Error codes Growatt WIT 4-15K-HU - Warning and Error from the manual (full map)
Error codes Growatt in the inverter WIT 4-15K-HU are divided into warnings (Warning 200-609), which limit output power, and errors (Error), which indicate damage or incorrect configuration. Below is a complete set of codes from tables 9.1 and 9.2 of the manual (rev. 2025-11) with the first action for each group — from PV, through grid and battery, to output. off-grid.
Error codes Growatt It's the fastest to read when you know which table of instructions to look at. WIT reports a code on the display or in the app, the first question is whether it's still a warning or already a fault. User manual WIT 4-15K-HU clearly resolves this, and this decision determines what can be done by yourself and what requires a technician. This article translates all error codes into Polish. Growatt from chapter 9.2 of the manual WIT 4-15K-HU (tables 9.1 and 9.2, pages 121-131 of the print; editorial translation from the English edition, rev. 2025-11) and arranges them into groups in which installers actually look for them: PV, network, system, battery, off-gridFor each group, we provide the first step in the instructions—and where the manufacturer tells you to stop working, we state this directly.
Warning or Error - how WIT 4-15K-HU signaling a problem?
Warnings "indicate abnormal situations that may result in reduced output power"—the warning disappears after the cause is removed, the inverter is restarted, or the system is reconfigured. Errors are a higher level: "the error code indicates that the device is faulty or the configuration is incorrect," and their removal is restricted to qualified and trained electricians. Before doing anything, remember the DANGER warning at the beginning of the chapter: if the "PV Isolation Low" alarm occurs, do not touch the device, as a ground fault may have occurred.
| Element | Warning (Table 9.1) | Error (Table 9.2) |
|---|---|---|
| Meaning | abnormal condition, output power limitation | device damage or incorrect configuration |
| When it disappears | after removing the cause, restarting or reconfiguration | after removing the fault; if it returns - contact Growatt |
| Who can act | trained technician (DANGER, chapter 9.2) | only a qualified electrician |
| Number ranges | 200-221, 300-311, 400-412, 500-510, 600-609 | 309-431, 500-511, 601-608 + word codes (AFCI Fault, GFCI High, OverLoad) |
You can read the codes from the inverter display and remotely - in ShinePhone i ShineServer The "Log" page shows the error code along with a description of the fault. For remote diagnostics, a phone call is all you need; details on configuring monitoring are described in the article on logging into the system. GrowattIt's worth using this regularly: error codes Growatt The events recorded in the event log form a history that shows whether the warning appeared once during a storm or returns every day at the same time—a completely different diagnosis. A single Warning 301 in the evening on a sunny day is a typical symptom. voltage increase in the network at high generation (observation from practice), while the same code at constant times regardless of the weather requires taking a closer look at the settings and connection conditions.
How to read error codes Growatt — numbering range map

Code numbering in WIT The 4-15K-HU is organized into clear sections—the same grouping is used in the instruction tables. The map below (editorial grouping based on Tables 9.1 and 9.2) allows you to immediately direct your diagnostics to the correct part of the installation, even before you find the specific code:
| Range | Installation area | Sample codes | Common causes | First step according to the instructions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2xx | DC page - PV thong | Warning 200 (string fault), 203 (PV1/PV2 short circuit), 209 (DC voltage above threshold), 220 (string disconnected), PV Reversed | damaged panels, incorrect polarity, excess voltage | turn off the inverter and check the strings; at 209 immediately turn off the DC disconnector |
| 3xx | network and measurement | Warning 300 (network missing), 301/302 (voltage/frequency out of range), 303 (EPS overload), 308/309 (counter) | power outage, network parameters, meter wiring | check the network parameters and the meter connection; do nothing at 311 - PCS will correct the phase sequence itself |
| 4xx | inverter systems | Warning 400 (fan), 407 (overheating), 412 (starting condition); Error 405 (relay), 413 (IGBT driver), 414 (EEPROM) | cooling, sensors, power electronics | inverter restart; when the code returns - service, not another restart |
| 5xx | battery i BMS | Warning 500 (no communication), 502/503 (battery voltage), 507 (fault with BMS); Error 500 (RS485), 509/510 (OCP charging/discharging) | RS485/CAN communication, voltage, temperature, overload | check if the battery is turned on and connected correctly; read the code for the cause BMS |
| 6xx | Exit off-grid (EPS) | Warning 602-606 (output voltage/overload); Error 601 (bus voltage low), EPS Output Short, OverLoad | load out of specification, short circuit on reserve output | check if the receivers' power does not exceed the limit and restart |
The same logic works the other way around: if a customer calls "because the battery power is out," ask for the first digit of the code first. The number five directs you to the battery and communications. BMS, six — for backup output and receiver power. This cuts the phone call in half before you even open the app. Error codes are grouped in the same way Growatt in other hybrid inverters of the manufacturer, but the numbers and descriptions may differ between series - that's why the table from the relevant manual always wins over the service technician's memory.
Error codes Growatt on the PV and grid side - warnings 2xx and 3xx
In service practice, strings and the grid generate the most calls (this is an observation from our installations, not manufacturer statistics). It's worth memorizing these codes: Warning 209 requires immediate shutdown of the DC disconnect and measurement of the string voltage, "PV Reversed" indicates reversed string polarity, and Warning 221 indicates unbalanced string current, usually a problem with one of the panels in the string. On the AC side, warnings 301 and 302 indicate that the grid voltage or frequency has fallen outside the acceptable range—the inverter is waiting for the grid to return to normal, and this is not a device fault. Meter codes 308 and 309 (meter disconnected or with reversed L and N wires) are classic examples of first-time energy metering.
A separate family of warnings are provided for surge protectors and fuses: "DC SPD Warning" and "AC SPD Warning" indicate a malfunction of the protectors on the DC and AC sides, respectively, and Warning 208 indicates a blown DC fuse. In all three cases, the instructions instruct you to turn off the system and check the component on the side affected by the code. After a storm or any network connection work, check these first—the tripped protector is a trace of the surge, which may have left something behind.
More serious errors include: "AC V Outrange" and "AC F Outrange" (voltage/frequency out of range), "No AC" (no grid), and Error 311—export limit protection tripped, which requires checking the CT and meter connections after shutting down. A separate category is safety: "AFCI Fault" (electric arc detected—check string connections after shutting down), "GFCI High" (excessive leakage current), and "PV Isolation Low" (low panel insulation resistance—check string grounding, remembering not to touch the DANGER device).
5xx Battery Codes - Communication, Voltage, Overload

WIT The 4-15K-HU works with low voltage batteries 40-60 V at currents up to 290 A (15K model) and communicates with BMS via RS485 or CAN - so most 5xx codes come down to three questions: is there communication, is the voltage within the window, and is the current within the limit. Key items from both tables:
| Code | Meaning | First step according to the instructions |
|---|---|---|
| Warning 500 | the inverter did not communicate with the battery | check if the battery is turned on and connected correctly |
| Warning 502 / 503 | battery voltage too high / too low | check the voltage and correct connections |
| Warning 507 | BMS reported a fault - charging and discharging blocked | determine the cause based on the error code BMS |
| Warning 508 | lithium battery overload protection | check that the power of the receivers does not exceed the battery discharge power |
| Error 500 | lack of communication BMS-inverter | check the RS485 cable between the inverter and the battery and whether the battery is not sleeping |
| Error 503 | battery voltage above threshold | measure voltage: within range - restart; outside range - replace battery |
| Error 509 / 510 | OCP activation during charging/discharging | at 509 check if the PV voltage is not oversized; at 510 - configuration of the discharge current |
Notice the pair that is easily confused: Warning 507 and Error 501 describe the same situation — BMS reports a fault and blocks the battery operation - and in both cases the manual refers to the error code on the side BMSDiagnostics then starts in the battery documentation, not the inverter documentation - error codes Growatt on the inverter side they only say that BMS reported something, not what exactly. In practice: when reporting "battery not charging," ask the customer to take a screenshot of both devices—the code from the inverter and the battery readings together save one trip.
Codes off-grid 6xx — Backup Output Under the Magnifying Glass
The sixes are error codes Growatt regarding islanding and EPS output. Warnings 602-606 revolve around two topics: output voltage (too low, too high, DC component) and overload — the manual consistently tells you to first check "if the load is within specifications" and only then restart. On the error side, the most serious is "EPS Output Short," i.e., a short circuit on the output. off-grid, and Error 601 - too low bus voltage, at which the manual instructs you to check the battery condition and possible capacity loss. Error 608 (incorrect parallel operation signal) indicates the communication cables between the units.
Reference point for overload assessment: reserve output WIT The 4-15K-HU has an overload capacity of 2x rated power for 10 seconds, and the switchover time to backup operation is a maximum of 10 ms. If codes 606 or OverLoad return when starting a specific consumer (pump, compressor), compare its starting current with this 10-second reserve - this is the most common scenario "the inverter works, but goes out when the refrigerator is running" (a conclusion from installation practice, supported by the parameter from Table 10.1).
What NOT to do when diagnosing codes
Four prohibitions that result directly from the instructions - most often broken when error codes Growatt are treated as regular messages to be deleted:
- Do not touch the device when the "PV Isolation Low" alarm occurs. The DANGER section of the manual clearly warns: a ground fault may have occurred and high voltages pose a risk of electric shock.
- Do not cure recurring errors with subsequent restarts. For Error codes, the instructions provide for one restart; if the code returns, further attempts only mask the fault - a qualified electrician or contact Growatt.
- Do not check strings or fuses under voltage. The instructions describe the actions for codes 200-208 "after shutdown / power off" - this also applies to replacing the DC fuse for Warning 208.
- Do not respond to Warning 311. If the phase sequence is incorrect, the manual clearly states: no action is required, the PCS will correct the sequence itself - manually switching the phases is asking for problems.
From the installer's practice
- Before you clear the code with a restart, take a picture of the screen - error codes Growatt after restarting they disappear from the display, and the screenshot of the "Log" page from the application becomes the only trace of the event for the service.
- Read the codes in pairs: inverter + battery: for 5xx always note down the code from the display BMS, because it indicates the original cause.
- For network codes 301/302, check the protection settings before reporting a fault - the voltage and frequency ranges must correspond to the connection conditions from your OSD (practice; the set values are described in the EN 50549-1 certificate).
- The numbers in this article refer to WIT 4-15K-HU according to the instructions rev. 2025-11 - for a different series or older revision, always compare the code with the table in the appropriate instructions from our documentation database.
FAQs about error codes Growatt (FAQ)
What do error codes mean? Growatt from the 5xx range, e.g. Warning 507?
The 5xx compartment is the battery and BMSWarning 507 means that BMS The battery has reported a fault and both charging and discharging are blocked. The instructions ask you to determine the cause based on the error code. BMS — so you start the diagnosis with the battery, and if the message does not disappear, contact the service Growatt.
Error 500 right after connecting the battery – what to check?
Two things from the manual: connecting the RS485 cable between the inverter and the battery, and making sure the battery is not in sleep mode. In battery packs for WIT A 4-15K communication cable is included - please ensure it is returned to its original position after replacing the batteries.
Can I complete the measurements with "PV Isolation Low"?
No. This alarm indicates low panel insulation resistance, and the DANGER section prohibits touching the device due to a possible ground fault. The tabled action—checking the grounding of the strings—is performed by a trained electrician after the installation has been safely shut down.
What is the difference between Warning 303 and OverLoad code?
Warning 303 is an overload on the EPS output in warning mode - the instruction tells you to reduce the load. "OverLoad" in Table 9.2 is an output overload error. off-gridThe limit is set by the overload capacity: 2× rated power for a maximum of 10 seconds.
Step-by-step diagnostic checklist
- Read and note the full code (screenshot or "Log" page in the app) - error codes Growatt make a note of the date and time of occurrence.
- Determine the group by the first digit: 2xx PV, 3xx network, 4xx system, 5xx battery, 6xx off-grid.
- Check if it is Warning (power limitation) or Error (job for electrician).
- Perform the first step in the table – always after a safe shutdown if instructed to do so.
- One control restart; if the code comes back - complete set: inverter code + code BMS + revision of the manual and reporting to the service.
