Application in a photovoltaic installation

The DC side of the cable operates in conditions that ordinary installation cables would not survive: full sunlight, year-round temperature fluctuations, and constant voltage as long as the sun shines. Therefore, cables specifically designed for photovoltaic installations, with a UV-resistant coating, are used.

When selecting the cross-section, the length of the route and the current of the string are important. Too thin a wire over a long distance means voltage drops and energy losses throughout the installation's lifespan—and this cannot be corrected later without replacing the wiring.

The insulation color is used solely to distinguish between poles. The electrical parameters of both versions are the same, so the color choice is based on convention, not on the properties of the wire.

6 mm² solar cable - what to pay attention to when choosing

When purchasing this item, check three things: compatibility with existing equipment on site, site conditions, and the quantity needed for the entire project. Photovoltaic system components operate outdoors for several years, in full sunlight and with fluctuating temperatures, so the choice of material and workmanship is crucial to the durability of the entire installation.

If you are collecting materials for a specific installation, it is more convenient to take everything from one delivery - the remaining items from the same group can be found in the cabling category , and all excess stock in the Inventory category.

Where does this stuff come from?

We sell inventory left over from closed projects and deliveries. The merchandise is brand new and covered by the same returns and refunds policy as the rest of our offerings. The only difference is that quantities are limited and will not be restocked—once the stock is depleted, the item will be removed from the store.

Minimum order and price calculation method

We sell this item starting at 30 linear meters. The price listed for the product is for one unit, so the value of the smallest order is 30 times that amount. This threshold is based on inventory accounting: for small items, the time required to deduct and pack several items costs more than the item itself. However, when ordering a full package, this cost is spread across all items, allowing the unit price to drop this low.

The quantity ordered increases incrementally in the cart, so you can't accidentally place an order below the threshold. Above the threshold, you can purchase any number of items until stocks last—which is limited to what's left in stock.

Delivery and pickup

Orders are shipped from our warehouse. Shipping costs depend on size and weight—small items are shipped as a parcel, while items longer than a standard parcel require pallet shipping, which is visible in the shopping cart after adding items. For orders with multiple items, shipping costs are calculated once for the entire shipment, so collecting the materials for a single order is cheaper than shipping several items separately.

You can also collect the goods in person at our warehouse in Bytomiu — pickup is free. For low-value items, this is often the most reasonable option, as shipping costs can be as high as the order itself. It's worth confirming availability before arrival, especially for last-minute items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the cable sold by the meter?

Yes. We sell sections from stock—you choose the length in the variant. For larger orders, please contact wholesale@pvgroup.pl and we will prepare a quote for the entire remaining stock.

What is the difference between the black and red cables?

The color of the insulation serves to distinguish the positive and negative poles in a PV string. The electrical parameters of both versions are the same.

Can I collect the goods in person?

Yes, personal collection in Bytomiu is free—you select it in your cart. For small items, this is often the most reasonable option, as shipping costs can be as high as the value of the item itself.

How many pieces are available?

This is a surplus stock item – quantities are limited and displayed next to the product. Once stocks are depleted, the item will be removed from the offer.
