Growatt THOR 11AS-P-EW1 is a three-phase EV charger from the series that the manufacturer names on the cover of the catalog card GROWATT THOR SMART EV CHARGER. Input and output operate at 400V AC, maximum power is 11kW, maximum current is 16A, and the 5m Type 2 cable is permanently attached.
Compared to the single-phase version, the difference is not only in power: the three-phase 11 kW distributes the consumption evenly across three phases, instead of loading one with 32 A current. PV Linkage mode - 11 kW charged with surplus photovoltaics
The card lists four operating modes: Fast, PV Linkage, Off-peak, and Load Balancing. PV Linkage is the mode in which the charger draws energy that would otherwise flow into the grid. The card cover literally states this—"Charge EV" with 100% renewable energy by surplus solar power.
With a three-phase installation, this mode makes the most economic sense of the entire series. A house with a three-phase inverter and a roof with a dozen or so kilowatts can output more than 11 kW to the grid during the middle of the day—the entire range of this charger can then be covered by home-grown power.
This is a practical assessment, not a parameter. The data sheet does not specify the power threshold for switching the mode on or the models of inverters and meters it works with. When selecting a system, the starting point is three-phase hybrid inverter category i configurator Growatt.
The card also lists Fast, which means full-power charging; Off-peak, controlled by a schedule whose configuration is not described; and Load balancing, which limits the charging current so that the total consumption does not exceed the connection power. The card does not specify what type of energy meter this requires.
11 kW @ 400 V - three phases 16 A
The card specifies 400 V AC and a maximum current of 16 A. Arithmetic check: 400 V × 16 A × √3 gives 11,08 kW, which is the power written in the line above as 11 kW. The calculation is ours, both input numbers come from the card.
Sixteen amps per phase must be covered by circuit protection and wire cross-sectional area; the data sheet does not specify protection requirements; it is selected by the designer according to the regulations of the country of installation. A differential circuit breaker is built in: AC 30 mA and DC 6 mA.
The other models are single phase Growatt THOR 07AS-P-EW1 for 230 V and three-phase Growatt THOR 22AS-P-EW1 at 32 A per phase.

The open protocol allows the charger to be connected to an external management system instead of locked into the manufacturer's application—a future-proofing measure for a second station. The card indicates OCPP 1.6, while OCPP 2.1 is marked as pending, with no deadline.
