Growatt THOR 07AS-P-EW1 – 7 kW wallbox for single-phase installation

Growatt THOR 07AS-P-EW1 is a single-phase EV charger from the series that the manufacturer names on the cover of the catalog card GROWATT THOR SMART EV CHARGER. Input and output operate at 230V AC, maximum power is 7kW, maximum current is 32A, and the 5m Type 2 cable is permanently attached.

The data sheet describes this model as single-phase only by voltage—it doesn't explicitly specify the number of phases, and we don't include it either. The EW1 generation replaced the manufacturer's THOR AS-P series; this model is equivalent to its 7 kW variant.

Pre-order - delivery December 2026. Growatt The THOR 07AS-P-EW1 can be ordered now, but the delivery of this series is planned for December 2026. We are not providing the exact date because the manufacturer has not confirmed it - we will update the date as soon as we receive it.

PV Linkage mode - car charged with surplus photovoltaic energy

The card lists four operating modes: Fast, PV Linkage, Off-peak, and Load Balancing. For the owner of a photovoltaic system, the second mode is most important: the charger then draws energy that would otherwise flow into the grid. The card cover puts it literally—"Charge EV" with 100% renewable energy by surplus solar power.

This is a good reason to buy a wallbox from a photovoltaic distributor. Instead of disrupting your car's energy consumption, it becomes the largest energy storage facility on your household—without having to buy a separate battery.

At 7 kW, the upper charging threshold corresponds to what is actually left from the roof of a single-family home in the middle of the day; this is a practical assessment, not a parameter. The data sheet does not specify the power threshold for switching the mode on, nor the models of inverters and meters it works with. When selecting a system, the starting point is single-phase hybrid inverter category i configurator Growatt.

The card also lists Fast, which means full-power charging; Off-peak, controlled by a schedule whose configuration is not described; and Load balancing, which limits the charging current so as not to exceed the connection power. The card does not specify what energy meter it requires.

7 kW at 230 V - what does this mean for the circuit?

The card specifies 230 V AC and a maximum current of 32 A. The product gives 7,36 kW, which is exactly what the document rounds up to 7 kW in the power line. The calculation is ours; both input numbers come from the card.

A current of 32 A must be covered by fuses and a wire cross-section. The data sheet does not specify requirements for circuit overcurrent protection; it is selected by the designer according to the regulations of the installation country. A differential circuit breaker is built in: AC 30 mA and DC 6 mA.

The remaining models in the series are three-phase: Growatt THOR 11AS-P-EW1 at 16 A and Growatt THOR 22AS-P-EW1 at 32 A.

Who is this wallbox for?

  • House with single-phase connection — the only model in the series that comes into play here.
  • Three-phase house without power reserve — the heat pump, induction and boiler can exhaust the contractual power.
  • PV installation focused on self-consumption — PV Linkage mode as the main way of working, not an addition.

Control: app, RFID card, Plug&Charge and OCPP

Charging is initiated via an app, Plug&Charge, or an RFID card. In single-family homes, Plug&Charge is usually sufficient, but an RFID card becomes useful where the charging station is accessible from a shared driveway. Connectivity is provided via Ethernet and Wi-Fi, with a 4G module optional.

Even in a home installation, the open protocol is important: it allows the charging point to be connected to an external management system instead of being locked into the manufacturer's app. The card indicates OCPP 1.6, while OCPP 2.1 is marked as pending, with no deadline.

The values are from the catalog card Growatt THOR 07-22AS-P-EW1, page 2. Note on the current line: the datasheet specifies a power unit for this model instead of a current unit. This is a manufacturer's typo—at 230 V and 32 A, the power is 7,36 kW, which is what the datasheet states in the line above as the maximum power of 7 kW. Therefore, we specify 32 A.

Certificates and standards

The card lists the following series: CE EMC, CE RED, CE LVD, REACH, RoHS, EN 18031-1, ISO 15118-4 and ISO 15118-5. These are manufacturer certificates, not connection requirements of the country of installation.

Installation and working conditions

The 4,35 kg weight is the lightest in the series – the three-phase versions weigh 5,63 kg each in the same 220 x 405 x 95 mm housing. This makes it suitable for use on a partition wall or as a free-standing column.

IP65 and a range of -30°C to +50°C cover unheated garages and outdoor areas in winter. Wall or floor mounting – wall bracket included, pole optional.

What the catalog card doesn't say

The EW1 series datasheet has two pages and some parameters are missing. We do not supplement them with information from neighboring models or marketing materials – the document does not include:

  • charger efficiency and self-consumption,
  • shock protection classes,
  • the number of phases given directly (results from the voltage),
  • requirements for overcurrent protection of the power supply circuit,
  • list of inverters Growatt compatible with PV Linkage mode,
  • warranty terms beyond the three-year period itself,
  • noise level,
  • type of counter for load balancing mode.

Most frequently asked questions

When Growatt Will THOR 07AS-P-EW1 be available?

You can place your order now—this is a pre-order. Delivery of this series is scheduled for December 2026. We're not providing a specific date because the manufacturer hasn't confirmed it.

Czy Growatt THOR 07AS-P-EW1 is single phase?

Yes. The card specifies 230V AC input and output, which indicates single-phase power; the number of phases is not explicitly specified. Models 11AS-P-EW1 and 22AS-P-EW1 operate at 400V.

Where from Growatt THOR 07AS-P-EW1 value 32 A?

In the current row, the card lists the power unit instead of the current unit for this model—a manufacturer typo. The answer is simple: 230 V times 32 A equals 7,36 kW, which is the maximum power from the row above.

Czy Growatt THOR 07AS-P-EW1 charges the car with surplus energy from photovoltaics?

Yes, the PV Linkage mode from the datasheet is used for this purpose. The document does not provide a switch-on power threshold or a list of compatible inverters and meters.

Czy Growatt Can the THOR 07AS-P-EW1 be mounted outdoors?

Yes. The data sheet states IP65, operating range from -30°C to +50°C, and indoor and outdoor use.

Is it for Growatt THOR 07AS-P-EW1 do I need to buy a cable?

No. The Type 2 cable, compliant with IEC 62196-2, is 5 m long and permanently attached.
